December Newsletter

December Newsletter

As we approach Christmas and the end of 2022 we thought it was a good time to get in touch and share some updates and to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

In this Newsletter we share news of the Arthur Rank Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme, a pre-Christmas collection for Food Hubs, a helpful way of saving money on utilities and some news on Cooke Curtis & Co.

Arthur Rank – Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme 2022

This is the fourth year we have got behind this wonderful project. Last year saw a wider area covered and even more desperately needed money for the Hospice was raised.

If you like a real tree for Christmas but don’t fancy a trip to the tip, this is a fantastic way of recycling your tree and helping to raise money for the Arthur Rank Hospice. The trees are then chipped and used on the Hospice and other gardens.

Teams from Cooke Curtis & Co will join around 150 volunteers collecting trees in and around Cambridge.

If you are interested in volunteering and having your tree collected click on the link below.

Help us Help

As we enter our fourth month of food donations and collections in the Cambridge area we hit a particularly difficult time for families who are struggling with rising living costs whilst attempting to deliver a little bit of Christmas magic to their families.

The generosity of the people of Cambridge has simply astounded us and I have personally seen how this provides invaluable help to local Food Hubs.

If you are able to donate something we plan to do a pre-Christmas collection across Cambridge and nearby villages. Myself and a team of spritely elves will collect on the 14th December.

Generally the following items are always needed: Pasta, tinned fruit and veg, tea and coffee, soup, toiletries, baby supplies and washing powder, but I am sure anything Christmassy (excluding perishable items or alcohol) would be incredibly welcomed.

If you are able to donate please email community@cookecurtis.co.uk and we will arrange a collection. We plan to have two cars available that afternoon so we hope we can all do what we can to help those who need it most.

To speak with us about how you can help please call on +44(0) 01223 508050 and ask for Jamie Curtis.

Utility Warehouse

There likely isn’t a person or family not affected by the rise in fuel costs, utility costs and an increase in the cost of living. There are a number of things we have in planning for next year to help in addition to our weekly food collections but from a practical perspective I thought this might be useful for some of you.

For those of you not familiar Utility Warehouse is an award winning utilities provider, gas, electric, telephone, broadband and mobile. Not only do they have some of best energy unit rates, if you take multiple services you receive enhanced discount benefits. Then if you use their Cashback Card you receive money off your next months bill.

Furthermore any switching of utilities are handled by the UW team assisted by your contact.

If you are interested in learning more on how to save money on your utilities please send me an email and we can arrange for Alison Curtis from Utility Warehouse to contact you.

Award Winning Estate & Lettings Agents

For those of you who are considering a move it is pretty obvious there has been a change in the market and to use the wise words of Billy Ocean “when the going gets tough, the tough get going” which in Estate & Lettings agent terms means you need an agent with resources and skills to secure the best results for their clients.

We set our bench mark high and believe our way of marketing properties along with our client care sets us apart from others and this is reinforced by us winning more awards.
Our lettings team have for the second year in a row won Best Letting Agent in Cambridge awarded by the British Property Awards and the sales team have been overall Best Sales Agent in England, Wales & Scotland for 2022 and for 2023 sales won a Gold Award with lettings receiving an excellent rating in the Best Estate Agent Guide.

Both award schemes assess the quality of our property marketing, customer service and results achieved for our clients. If you would like to have a look at our awards or better still have a chat about how we can get you the best result call us to arrange an appointment or click on the link below.

And finally, if you are interested in sharing with us your plans for 2023 we are open between Christmas and the New Year on the 28th, 29th & 30th December between 09:00 -13:00.

We are then back on the 3rd January as normal.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the team at Cooke Curtis & Co

When my mum passed away, I found myself standing in her house, surrounded by everything she’d collected over the years. I used to tease her about her "dust collectors," those little knick-knacks she cherished, like her assortment of rubber ducks in the bathroom.

Would you believe it, we have only gone and won the British Property Awards for Cambridge again? And this is the third successive year for both our sales and lettings teams.

What may sound like positive or even endearing things to hear from an agent, may on closer inspection be a euphemism for a negative trait. Here are some estate agent red flags, or reasons not to choose Cooke, Curtis and Co.

It's that time of year where we share some updates on things that have taken place in 2024 and plan to happen in 2025. We hope you find it interesting, if not, before you hit delete, click unsubscribe at the bottom of this email. Plus details of our "12 Days of Christmas" prize giveaway!
